Silky Dogwood (Cornus amomum) - Usually a shrub to 3 m. tall; twigs purple or reddish, pith brown; leaves are opposite, dark green and nearly glabrous above, lighter green or slightly paler beneath, with spreading brown hairs, at least on the main veins and with 5 or more veins per leaf side. The flowers are white to yellow-white in flat dense cymes, usually slightly villous; fruits are blue or sometimes party white, 6 mm. across; stone subglobose, furrowed.

Habitat:

Shores, streams, bottomlands.
